To the People of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma

After much deliberation and at the urging of family members and friends, I have decided to ask you for the opportunity to serve as your Principal Chief. My decision to seek the Office of Principal Chief is based on my profound belief that with dedicated and determined leadership we–the people of the Seminole Nationcan thrive economically and culturally in the 21st Century.

As you all know, for most of the 20th Century our great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents struggled against insurmountable odds just to maintain critical elements of our unique identity as Seminole people. In 1969 they began to regain control over aspects of our political, economic and cultural destiny. Thanks to the legacy of those who came before us today we have the opportunity to build a Seminole Nation that is politically and economically strong. A Seminole Nation that enables us to live and work in an environment rich with Seminole culture and traditions.

I firmly believe that the future of the Seminole Nation must be built upon its cultural traditions and heritage. This steadfast belief in our capabilities, together with my education and more than twenty years tribal management experience, makes me uniquely qualified to lead our efforts to build the Seminole Nation of the 21st century.

I ask for your support on July 11 to become Principal Chief of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma. There will be many challenges and obstacles to overcome as we build our future; but by drawing upon our Seminole heritage, together we can create a new era of prosperity for the Seminole Nation.
